ElectroDesigner uses necessary browser storage for authentication, security, preferences and local projects. Optional Google Analytics 4 is loaded only after explicit analytics consent when the analytics service is enabled. We do not use advertising cookies.
1. ElectroDesigner account session storage
ElectroDesigner account authentication is provided through Supabase. The authentication client may store the signed-in session in browser storage so the user can remain signed in between page loads. This storage contains authentication/session information and is necessary for account functionality. Signing out removes the local ElectroDesigner account session from that browser, subject to the authentication provider's session behaviour.
The site shell may also store a simple local signed-in hint used only to label the navigation link as “My account”. It is not an authentication credential and does not grant access to account data.
2. Essential FaultChain session cookie
Name: FAULTCHAINSESSID
Provider: ElectroDesigner.com
Purpose: Maintains the server-side FaultChain session used for licence entitlement, CSRF/security controls and authenticated PRO functions.
Type: First-party essential cookie.
Controls: HttpOnly; SameSite=Lax; Secure when the site is served over HTTPS. The lifetime is server-configured and is tied to the applicable session/entitlement behaviour.
This cookie is necessary when you use authenticated FaultChain PRO functions. Blocking it can prevent activation or PRO functionality from working correctly.
3. Cloudflare Turnstile bot protection
ElectroDesigner authentication forms may use Cloudflare Turnstile to distinguish legitimate users from automated abuse. Turnstile performs browser-side security checks and processes technical signals necessary for bot detection. Standard Turnstile operation does not use the service for advertising or behavioural marketing. Depending on Cloudflare configuration and browser behaviour, technical cookies or similar storage may be used where strictly necessary for the security challenge.
Turnstile is used as a security control rather than an optional advertising or analytics tool. For more detail about the personal data involved, see the Privacy Policy.
4. Other browser local storage
Local storage is not sent automatically with every web request like a cookie, but it stores data in your browser. FaultChain and the site shell may use local storage for:
- custom FaultChain components and engineering presets;
- local comparison/project data created by supported tools;
- Build 14 local project backups, limited by the application to recent projects;
- the acknowledgement that you have seen the cookie/storage notice;
- account-navigation state; and
- other local interface preferences needed to make the application easier to use.
Local project data stays on the device/browser where it was saved unless you export or transmit it yourself. Clearing site data in the browser removes it.
6. External services
When you follow a link to Gumroad, a manufacturer, a standards organisation or another third-party website, that external service may use its own cookies or similar technologies. Those cookies are controlled by the external provider and are governed by its policies.
7. Managing storage
You can remove cookies and local storage through your browser's site-data settings. Removing authentication or essential session data may sign you out, require a new login, or require licence re-verification. Browser-only engineering projects and preferences may also be removed when site data is cleared.
8. Access without analytics consent
You can use the website and calculators without optional analytics. Refusing or withdrawing analytics consent does not delete your projects, log you out or disable essential account functions.
